$60 Weekly Grocery Challenge – Saved $98 at Harris Teeter This Week!
What is the $60 Weekly Grocery Challenge?
Each week my goal is to spend approximately $60 for food, drinks, groceries, toiletries, diapers and medicine for my family of five. Then, I report on this blog the items that I bought, the best sales and coupon match-ups that I found and hopefully by doing so, help you stretch your family’s grocery budget, as well!
How Did I Do This Week?
Harris Teeter – Spent $70.67, Saved $98.16
(Note – I plan to submit a $10 meat rebate from this week’s shopping trip which will bring my weekly grocery spending down to my $60 weekly goal. See below for details).
Harris Teeter Shopping Trip
My total dropped from $168.83 down to only $70.67 after coupons and VIC card!
Here is my receipt showing a savings of $98.16:
As I posted two weeks ago, I skipped my usual weekly grocery shopping trip over Thanksgiving, as planned. I picked up a few quick items at the store that we needed, but I didn’t do a big grocery shopping trip.
As much as I love couponing and grocery shopping, it was nice to take a break last week to just enjoy the family, the holiday and eat from (at that point) our very stocked up pantry and refrigerator.
However, by the time I went grocery shopping yesterday, we definitely needed quite a few things. As shown above, I spent $67.65 + sales tax for a total of $70.67. I plan to submit my receipt from yesterday’s shopping trip for the $10 meat rebate pictured above. This will bring my total spent for the week down to $60.67…which is right on target with my $60 weekly grocery spending goal.
In case you didn’t know, many of the beer companies offer rebates for various items WITH NO BEER PURCHASE REQUIRED. For example, the rebate pictured above that I plan to submit is for $10.00. All you have to do is spend a minimum of $10.00 on any beef, chicken or seafood product and submit your receipt, product UPCs and the rebate form. It is a simple way to get reimbursed for part of your grocery total.
Throughout the year, the different types of beer company grocery rebates will vary. I have seen some as high as $20 or a low as $3 and for items ranging from salty snacks, party supplies, meat and more.
For those of you who shop at Harris Teeter like me, I don’t think I have ever seen beer company rebates displayed there. I typically find these at Food Lion. Just a little tip to help you save more on your grocery bill 🙂
Did you find any great grocery/drug store bargains this week?
