Harris Teeter Super Double Coupons – Day 4 – Spent $2.94 (Plus Tax), Saved $20.84!

Today I had a VERY quick moment to stop by Harris Teeter prior to a dentist appointment and I picked up a few (and I mean few) things. Since the last day of Super Double Coupons is tomorrow, I wanted to get a handful of final items. Today’s trip totaled $2.94 (plus tax), with a savings of $20.84!

In addition, I had a coupon for $1.50 off my shopping trip that printed at the register from one of my Super Doubles trips last week. Evidently, Harris Teeter is running a promotion that if you buy two McCormick spices, you will receive $1.50 off your next shopping trip. With coupons, I only spent $.38 for two small bottles of chili powder and then received $1.50 for my next shopping trip.  That is like getting paid (and then some) to buy the spices. I wasn’t even aware of the McCormick promotion, so that was a nice surprise!

TLC’s “Extreme Couponing” Show Airs Again Tonight at 10 p.m.

I saw it last week and it measures up to its title – EXTREME!!! If you can look past that part, there are some good lessons in couponing, such as the fact you can save A LOT of money being strategic with matching your coupons to store sales, using the opportunity to donate items you get for free through couponing for charitable donations, etc.

But, personally you are not going to catch me dumpster-diving for coupons or clearing out an entire shelf of a particular item 🙂 My hope is that through my blog I am showing you how just a LITTLE effort and planning can help stretch your grocery budget in a big way!

Speaking of, I have pinpointed A LOT of great freebies and cheapies at Harris Teeter this week during Super Double Coupons (starting tomorrow).  I will post a picture and a list of coupon matchups as soon as I return home from the grocery store tomorrow!!!

Money Making Monday – How I Made Money on Ebay Overnight (Literally)!

Last week, I relisted several items on Ebay that did not sell back in November when I previously tried to sell them.  No biggie, just did a quick relist on Ebay during a spare moment during my boys’ school holiday break. The online auctions were set to run out on Sunday night (last night).  None were big ticket items and to be honest, I didn’t actually expect them to sell, being that most of the items were pre-owned clothing items and didn’t sell the previous time.

Imagine my surprise this morning, when I woke up to email notifications from Ebay that I sold SEVEN items and made over $60 (plus money towards shipping)! Not a bad way to start off the new year, if you ask me! I am posting this just to show 1) how selling on Ebay can be very inconsistent 2) timing is everything and 3) it can be a GREAT way for any of you to make some extra money!

As you kick off this new year, you may be clearing out clutter from your home and trying to become better organized.  Why not try selling some of the items you no longer need on Ebay – you really never know what will sell! If you are interested in testing the Ebay waters, you may be interested in reading my previous posts:

Making Money Monday – Selling on Ebay Continued…

Find a few items (new or pre-owned) and see what happens!  Right now, it is FREE to list up to 100 items on Ebay with online auctions.  You have nothing to lose…good luck!!!

Sunday Savings at CVS – Two Packs of Huggies Diapers, One Container of Huggies Wipes & Four Boxes of South Beach Diet Bars for Under $11!

Transaction #1

Purchased 4 boxes of South Beach Diet Bars – Sale – 4 for $10 (Regular price is $3.99 per box)
Redeemed 2 $2.00 off South Beach Diet Bars – Click here to print!
Redeemed $.50 Extra Care Buck (printed at in-store kiosk from my Oct – Dec. quarterly spending. Yours may be more depending on how much you spent during the last quarter.)

Paid: $5.50 (plus tax) for 4 boxes.
RECEIVED $4.00 to use on next transaction!

*Note – You could also do this transaction with two boxes of South Beach Diet Bars and two boxes of Planter’s Nutrition Bars.  In this scenario, you could also use two $.75 off Planter’s Nutrition Bars (from today’s Sunday coupon newspaper insert). I had planned to purchase these, but the CVS I went to was out of them. This would make your out of pocket amount only $4.50 with $4.00 Extra Care Bucks for your next purchase.  That makes for some VERY CHEAP bars!

Transaction #2

Purchased 2 Jumbo Packs of Huggies Diapers ($8.99 each)
Purchased 1 Huggies Wipes ($3.49)
Redeemed 2 $2.50 off Huggies Diapers coupons – Click here to print!
Redeemed $4.00 Extra Care Bucks from Transaction #1 (shown above)
Redeemed $4.00 off $20.00 purchase coupon (received via email from CVS over the weekend.  If you haven’t already, register on the CVS website to receive money saving offers such as this one)
Redeemed FREE Huggies wipes coupon (received as a reward from the Huggies Enjoy the Ride Rewards Program)

Paid – $4.98 (plus tax)
RECEIVED $1.00 Extra Care Buck from Huggies diapers to use on a future purchase at CVS.

In conclusion, I spent only $10.48 (plus tax) for two jumbo packs of diapers, a container of wipes and four boxes of South Beach Diet bars. For a non-couponer, one pack of diapers could cost that! I was very happy with my savings today at CVS and happy to end up with a $1.00 Extra Care Buck to start off my deals next week.

Now, I am focusing my efforts on pinpointing the best deals coming up this week during Harris Teeter Super Doubles (starting Wednesday).  If you haven’t already, be sure to pick up at least one copy of today’s Sunday newspaper (I picked up two).  Each had FIVE coupon inserts today and they will come in handy later this week during Super Doubles.  Get ready to save a lot of money!
