What is the $60 Weekly Grocery Challenge?
Each week my goal is to spend approximately $60 for food, drinks, groceries, toiletries, diapers and medicine for my family of five. Then, I report on this blog the items that I bought, the best sales and coupon match-ups that I found and hopefully by doing so, help you stretch your family’s grocery budget, as well!
How Did I Do This Week?
Harris Teeter – Spent $39.70
Aldi – Spent $25.21
Total for the Week – Spent $64.91
Aldi Shopping Trip
Spent $25.21
This shopping trip included over four pounds of fresh boneless, skinless chicken breast for only $6.79 (Wednesday special), three pounds of apples ($2.99), two pounds of red grapes ($2.99), eight ears of corn ($1.79 per package), honey wheat bread, peanut butter, chili powder, kidney beans and a few other items.
Harris Teeter Trip
Spent $39.70, Saved $72.90
In addition to this week’s great coupon deals, during my shopping trip I also scored some great markdowns in the meat department. The Oscar Mayer 98% fat free turkey hot dogs were marked down to only $1.00 each (reg. price is $5.29 per package) and the packages of Hillshire Farms turkey breast lunch meat were marked down to only $1.89. I bought two of each.
I also used the coupon I received last week during super doubles for a free half gallon of Simply Pure milk. As you can see in the photo, I also purchased a second half gallon (for only $1.89). It is on sale this week for $2.89 and there is a $1.00 off coupon available on my matchup list below.
